I decided to start surfing as a hobby but found that it is so much more. It’s a lifestyle and surfing has been such a big part of my life for the past ten years. When I was getting started surfing I made so many mistakes, took a lot of bad advice, and spent a lot of time wiping out. Luckily I stuck with it and over time gotten better and better at it. I decided to start Start Surf Now as a place where new surfers can get info, advice, tips, and surf gear recommendations that’ll actually boost your surfing adventures.

One of the best bits of advice I got when I started out was to have as much fun as possible and not to overthink it. Sure, at times you’ll feel awkward and for sure look stupid, but remember it’s all about having fun. Try not to be so hard on yourself when you’re out in the waves. Another piece of advice I got was never to surf outside of your abilities. Always surf safe and follow lifeguard or coast guard warnings. Your safety in the water is the most important thing to remember!
